When Jesusita started we were far enough away that it hardly affected us. The increased wind over the past few days have spread the fire in multiple directions and although we are still safe from the fire, it is slowly making its way towards us. When the fire started we were certain that it would not make it as far as it has. Here is a diagram of the fire's progress last night.
Last night the fires raged and we watched it while eating dinner at In n Out. Evacuations have increased and everything around us is ashy and filled with the scent of smoke. We closed our doors early at work today as we are on the edge of the warning evacuation zone. Knowing that the fire has becomes as wide spread as it has, there is no telling whether or not it will make it closer to us. But again, we are at the moment safe and away from danger. I just saw the update on yahoo that it was spreading towards Goleta and wondered if you guys had to evacuate. scary! glad you're still ok, though!
