A Memorable Game

Ever since we moved to Chicago I have had the biggest fear of getting locked out of our apartment. If both Justin and I were to forget our keys, what would we do? Seven months went by with no problems. But yesterday, at possibly the worst time, we locked ourselves out of our apartment.

It was finally the night we had been waiting for. Blackhawks game with Courtney and Joe! Sure, we were only able to find standing room tickets but we were excited to go together. We had a delicious brunch (or maybe it was just lunch) at Bananas Foster Cafe with Courtney and Joe and we excitedly got ready for the game. Justin locked the door, we all walked out only to find out that neither one of grabbed keys. For a few seconds, Justin thought I was kidding.

We had a strict plan. We were going to leave the apartment no later than 5:30 (which we did), we would drive to the United Center and arrive at the game early enough to get a good spot and get ourselves the free Patrick Sharp Sharpies they were giving away that night.

We obviously could not drive to the game and now we had no way of getting back in to our apartment after the game. We decided to take the train to Courtney and Joe's house and eventually hailed a cab. Thankfully, we figured out the key situation and we had less to worry about during the game.

It first started with forgetting keys. Then we couldn't find some crucial contact information to figure out our key situation because I (of all days) chose not to take my phone or purse. Sure, we had Justin's phone but it was blinking red and near death. We transferred important numbers to Joe's phone that also died. Luckily, Courtney's phone pressed on.

Looking back on the night, it wasn't that bad. But at the time, it felt like everything that could possibly go wrong was going wrong. Even with all of our bad luck we had a great time at the game and the Blackhawks were victorious in their last home game before the two week break for the Olympics.

Oh, and just when I thought nothing else could happen that night.....

...I lost my Patrick Sharp Sharpie!

We are grateful for those who helped us. We are happy the Blackhawks won. And we couldn't have asked for better company!
