Hello from our nation's capital! After a delay in our flight, we made it. Our hotel is wonderful and we are sad that we have such little time here. We headed out to see as much as possible in the little day light we had left. Washington D.C. has amazing buildings and there are already cherry blossom trees in bloom. Unfortunately, it was umbrella weather. Even with the rain, we went on. Our first stop was the White House, which was not as large as I had always imagined. Nonetheless, it was still amazing to stand in front of it knowing that every president (except for Washington) once lived in that very house. We made a brief stop at the American History Museum until the museum closed. We continued our long walk towards the capital building and then towards the Lincoln Memorial. By the time we finished at the Lincoln Memorial, we weren't sure how we would make it back to the hotel. Our feet were in pain!
Tomorrow we are hoping to wake up in time to make it back to the Smithsonian Museums. I am dying to see the Colbert painting at the portrait gallery! Then we will be off to Maryland for Justin's first grad school visitation!
